VP of Operations

Responsible for delivery of Backwell's civil site work on utility solar and data center projects. Directs field operations and is accountable for schedule, production, and cost on active projects.

  • Lead project managers, superintendents, safety managers, and field engineers across multiple active sites
  • Accountable for production, schedule, and earthwork cost from mobilization through final stabilization
  • Establishes operating systems: certified payroll, project management software, safety program, and apprenticeship compliance for prevailing wage work
  • Directs subcontractor and equipment planning, staffing, and project buyout
  • Requires prior experience managing utility scale solar or heavy civil earthwork projects. GPS machine control and prevailing wage experience preferred.
$200,000 to $250,000 base, plus performance bonus and vehicle. Depending on experience.

Field Leadership · Travel · Per Diem

Site Superintendent

Directs daily jobsite operations on solar and data center civil projects. Sequences the work, supervises the field workforce and subcontractors, and maintains grade, schedule, and site safety.

  • Direct earthwork, access roads, trenching, and underground utilities from layout to completion
  • Supervises the field workforce and subcontractors on site, with daily reports and quantity tracking
  • Hold grade and tolerance with GPS machine control and coordinate compaction and testing
  • Maintains site safety and enforces the safety program on prevailing wage projects
  • Requires prior experience supervising heavy civil or solar earthwork. Travel required.
$130,000 to $160,000 base, plus per diem, company truck, and completion bonus. Depending on experience.

Heavy Equipment Operators

Excavator, dozer, and grader operators on GPS machine control. Mass grading, access roads, trenching, and pad work.

Supervise a portion of the civil scope. Read plans, hold grade and quantities, direct production, and train operators.

Administers the site safety program on utility scale civil projects. Staffed as an OSHA 30 coordinator or a CHST safety manager depending on project and EPC requirements.

$65,000 to $120,000, by project requirement

Site Administrator / Timekeeper

Handles local workforce onboarding, daily timekeeping, and certified payroll data from the jobsite office.

$55,000 to $70,000 base

Skilled Laborers

SWPPP and erosion control, pipe laying, grade work, and general civil labor on prevailing wage projects.

Prevailing wage on public projects, plus overtime

Compensation and Terms

  • Salaried positions are paid at the base ranges listed. Field positions include per diem and a company vehicle where noted, plus overtime.
  • Prevailing wage under Davis-Bacon is paid to laborers and mechanics on covered public and tax-credit projects. Certified payroll is maintained on all public work.
  • Positions are based on active and upcoming projects across the United States. Travel is required for field positions.
